Whether you want to make a career change, improve your prospect of finding a job, go on a course and learn something new, or just make the most of your current job, your local Nextstep may be able to help.

How can we help?

Get advice that's right for you

If you don't have many qualifications (i.e. less than five GCSEs grade A-C, or a level 2 qualification or equivalent), your local Nextstep service can offer you an information and advice session completely free of charge. All Nextstep advisers are professionally qualified and can give you advice about new jobs and courses, childcare, grants for learning and training, and help answer all your work and learning questions.

What is information?

Your local Nextstep centre can offer high quality information on learning and work related topics to any adult who lives in Lancashire, free of charge.

Information may include:

  • Leaflets
  • Website addresses
  • Details of other organisations that may be able to help you further

What is advice?

Your local Nextstep centre can offer a face-to-face advice session on learning and work related topics.

They may:

  • Help you use decision-making tools.
  • Help you link your personal interests and skills to your own job or career needs.
  • Identify the skills you may need and refer you to other sources of help if you need to improve your reading, writing or maths.
  • Give you advice about financial support available.
  • Give you advice on ways to search and apply for jobs, such as writing a CV and interview skills.
  • Give you advice on ways to progress in a career.
  • Give you basic advice about the services available to you during redundancy including how to access them and when to go.

Nextstep is designed for adults with few or no qualifications.
