What is the European Computer Driving Licence?
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification for computer users everywhere.
Study for the ECDL and you'll gain the confidence, basic skills and knowledge to use computers and a wide range of common software packages, including Microsoft.

What does the ECDL cover?
The ECDL qualification is made up of seven modules that cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use at work and at home. You can take these modules in any order and over any period of time. At the end of each module, there's an online test that you take at Burnley Telematics. When you pass all seven modules, you'll be awarded an ECDL certificate.
Which Burnley Telematics courses do I need?
There are six online Burnley Telematics courses that map to the different ECDL modules to help you get the skills you need. These courses are suitable for complete beginners; each contains simple exercises and assignments to help you practice and reinforce what you've learnt.
- IT2 Introducing Computers - Find out what computers can do, how they work, and how to use them properly. Learn how to work with icons, windows and menus, and use Windows Explorer.
- IT2 Word Processing - Develop your keyboard skills and learn how to produce, edit and format word processed documents using MS Word, so you can write letters, create job winning CVs, and produce documents using pictures and objects.
- IT2 Spreadsheets - You'll learn, in MS Excel, how to create spreadsheets, enter and work with numbers and create graphs, as well as how to do simple calculations.
- IT2 Databases - Using MS access, learn how to design and use a simple database and extract information- useful for organising and retrieving information quickly.
- IT2 Presentations - Using MS powerpoint, learn how to create professional looking presentations, print them and use slide show effects.
- IT2 Electronic Communication - Further your knowledge and use of the internet, and learn how to send and retrieve email messages with attachments.
