My name is Sandra Fishwick and I am absolutely delighted, because I have just heard that I have passed the last module for the Clait qualification.

When I first came to Burnley Telematics in February this year, I was certain that I would not be able to cope with learning computer skills, but I was going to try. After only 9 months I have got a qualification.

This was entirely due to the staff at Burnley Telematics, they have been absolutely wonderful and more faith in me than I did. Sandra Blackshaw has been my tutor, and did warn me at the start of the course that in a few months time, I would be amazed at what I had learnt, I am very happy to say that she was right and I was wrong.

I am 58 years old and at this age learning something new is a challenge, I have enjoyed attending Burnley Telematics and look forward to continue my learning with E.C.D.L

I would also like to mention Itrat who has tutored me and also conducted tests. We all came into the tests a ‘bag of nerves’ but Itrat managed to calm us down and relax us, which is just what we needed and I’m sure it is one of the reasons we managed to get through the tests.

I cannot finish this letter without mentioning Jeremy or Cheryl, who are always helpful, cheerful and welcoming whenever you come into the centre.

"I have enjoyed learning at the Burnley Telematics Centre as I have been able to go at the learning speed that I wanted. I like the fact you can start your course at any time in the year unlike college courses. Using both facilities of learning at home and at the Telematics Centre helped me to be able to complete the courses fast.

Using the Telematics Centre helps you to get to know other people who are learning just like you. Another important thing I liked was the fact that you get an instant result to online tests. This stops a lot of wait and a lot of worry!!

The ECDL course has been invaluable to my new job. I have been able to use the word processor to print letters, envelopes, use spreadsheets and databases."

The support I have received from the tutors has been wonderful. The tutors always find time to help and explain things no matter how many times you ask.

Environment at Burnley Telematics

The team at Burnley Telematics all work together to make it a friendly atmosphere and when you are learning this is a big help. We are also able to have a little break and make a drink whenever needed.

Where would you like to progress to?

I would like to complete my E.C.D.L. and then progress onto my Literacy and Numeracy qualifications.
